- Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964) was the first film that got him properly noticed as a lead.
- Five years in, he was a working actor in a crowded industry — not yet the name on the poster.
Phool Aur Patthar, and everything after it
- O. P. Ralhan's Phool Aur Patthar (1966) was one of the biggest hits of its year. A bare-chested scene in it earned him the "He-Man" tag, and the tag outlived nearly everyone who coined it.
- What followed was a decade of range rather than repetition: Satyakam (1969) for drama, Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971) for action, Seeta Aur Geeta (1972) for romance, Chupke Chupke (1975) for pure comedy.
Veeru
- Sholay released on 15 August 1975 and became the most-quoted Hindi film ever made. He played Veeru — the loud, funny, hopelessly romantic half of the pair.
- It is worth noticing what the part actually is. In the biggest action film in Indian history, he is the comic romantic lead.
Parliament, character roles, and a last film
- A Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award came in 1997. In 2004 he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bikaner, Rajasthan, and served that term until 2009.
- Then a second career as a character actor — Life in a… Metro (2007), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). India gave him the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
- He died at his Mumbai home on 24 November 2025, aged 89. His last film, Ikkis — in which he played the father of Param Vir Chakra recipient Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal — released on 1 January 2026. The Padma Vibhushan was conferred on him posthumously that same month, received on his behalf by his family.

Why "which sign" actually matters
Every planet has signs where it is comfortable and signs where it struggles. Same planet, different room, different output.
- Exalted (best possible sign) — maximum strength. One sign per planet, and most charts don't have any planet in it.
- Home ground (own sign) — the planet owns the place. Full strength, no permission needed.
- Debilitated (weakest spot) — working with the handbrake on.

Planets don't all act at once. They take turns running a life, for years at a stretch, in a fixed order that the Moon's exact position at birth sets. Vedic astrology calls a planet's turn a dasha, and the full lifetime sequence is the Vimshottari dasha.
Why this page has no dasha dates at all
Here is the bit that is specific to him, and it is the reason this page looks different from most celebrity kundli pages you'll find.
Which planet's dasha you start on is set by the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth — one of 27 lunar mansions, each about 13°20' wide. The dates of every dasha after that are set by exactly how far through that nakshatra the Moon had travelled.
The Moon covers roughly 13 degrees a day. So across a single unknown birth date, the Moon can sweep nearly a whole nakshatra — which means the dasha dates slide by years, sometimes by more than a decade.
What we can honestly publish: the order. After that first turn, both possibilities run the identical wheel — Sun → Moon → Mars → Rahu → Jupiter → Saturn → Mercury → Ketu → Venus. What we refuse to publish: a single date on it, or any claim that some event in his life fell in some particular period. Without a birth minute that would be invention dressed up as computation.
The second boundary — his Moon sign itself
The nakshatra is not the only thing that moves on his birth date. His rashi — the Moon sign, which in Indian usage is what people usually mean by "his zodiac sign" — moves too.
